Regular Season Round 35: Yokohama BC - Nagoya DD 71-77

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Yokohama BC (17-40) lost at home to second ranked Diamond Dolphins (30-27) 77-71 on Friday. Strangely Yokohama BC outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 39-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). International guard Shuto Ando (189-94) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Tanzanian center Hasheem Thabeet (218-87, college: Connecticut) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and international point guard Ryo Tawatari (180-93, college: Dominican, CA) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Yokohama BC. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Diamond Dolphins. They maintain second place with 30-27 record having sixteen points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Yokohama BC lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 40 games lost. Diamond Dolphins will face Tochigi Brex (#4) at home in the next round. Yokohama BC will play against San-en NeoPhoenix in Hamamatsu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
