Regular Season Round 8: NW Tasmania - Sandringham S. 93-78

Rather expected game in Ulverstone where 7th ranked Sabres (1-5) were defeated by fifth ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (2-3) 93-78 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by NW Tasmania Thunder. Sabres was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. NW Tasmania Thunder looked well-organized offensively handing out 38 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when NW Tasmania Thunder made 28 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Mason Bragg (182-93) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 9 assists and 5 steals and Tre Armstrong who added 22 points and 7 assists during the contest. Forward Makuei Puondak (203, college: Martin Methodist) responded with 21 points and 9 assists and Nigerian-American guard Anthony Odunsi (193-92, college: Houston Baptist, agency: Haylett Sports) scored 16 points and 8 assists. Sabres' coach tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory NW Tasmania Thunder went down to sixth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Sabres keep the seventh place with five games lost. NW Tasmania Thunder will face higher ranked Geelong Supercats (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sabres will play against Tigers in Melbourne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
