Second Stage Round 2: Valencia - Picken Claret 76-46

Picken Claret (1-1) recorded a loss on the court of Valencia. Visitors were rolled over by Valencia 76-46. It looked good early as Picken Claret took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Valencia had a 19-12 second period charge getting the lead and Picken Claret was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 46-76. Valencia dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Picken Claret's 16. They outrebounded Picken Claret 49-30 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swingman Irene Gari (185-94, college: Georgia Tech, agency: ProDep Management) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (186-86, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Valencia players scored in double figures. Valencia's coach Ruben Burgos felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Beatriz Royo (176-91) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and forward Marta Rabassa (178-94) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Valencia will play against Aros Patatas (#4) in Leon in the next round. Picken Claret will play at home against Maquinaria Ensino and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
