Regular Season Round 30: Caen - Fos-Provence 71-74

Date: April 27, 2018
Thirteenth-ranked Caen (10-20) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Provence Basket (20-10) on Friday. The visitors from Fos-sur-Mer managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected much easier game. Caen was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 17-9 charge of Provence Basket, which allowed them to win the game. They made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was naturalized Senegalese power forward Mamadou Dia (201-78) who scored 17 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Power forward Pierre Pelos (205-92) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Provence Basket players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Jarvis Williams (198-93, college: Murray St., agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized Swiss center David Ramseier (202-87) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Caen's coach Herve Coudray tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Provence Basket maintains fourth position with 20-10 record, which they share with Saint-Chamond. Loser Caen keeps the thirteenth place with 20 games lost. They share the position with Poitiers. Provence Basket will meet at home Saint Chamond (#5) in the next round. Caen will play against JA Vichy (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
