Date: April 28, 2018
There was a small surprise when nineteenth ranked Ferrocarril (11-23) outplayed 16th ranked Quilmes MP (13-23) in Buenos Aires 94-71 on Saturday. Ferrocarril dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Quilmes MP's 42. They outrebounded Quilmes MP 35-21 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Ferrocarril especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. American Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Franco Balbi (185-89) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Point guard Nicolas Ferreyra (185-85) replied with 17 points and 8 assists and Puerto Rican Ricardo Sanchez (212-87, agency: BeoBasket) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Quilmes MP. Four Ferrocarril and five Quilmes MP players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ferrocarril will face higher ranked Penarol (#18) in Mar del Plata in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
