We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when third ranked Toshiba Thunders (39-19) defeated second-ranked Kyoto Hannar. (33-24) in Kanagawa 77-73 on Saturday. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Ito Tatsuya (173-94) added 20 points and 5 assists in the effort for Kyoto Hannar.Toshiba Thunders maintains third place with 39-19 record having six points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Loser Kyoto Hannar. keeps the second position with 24 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face league's leader Chiba Jets on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
