Regular Season Round 8: Ballarat M. - Geelong S. 97-88

The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Ballarat Miners' (3-1) home victory over 4th ranked Geelong Supercats (2-1) 97-88 on Saturday. It was a key game for the second position in League. Ballarat Miners made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Peter Hooley (193-92, college: Albany) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and naturalized Greek forward Nic Pozoglou (198-96) who added 13 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. American forward John Davis (196-94, college: Towson) responded with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import guard Demarcus Gatlin (193, college: Sam Houston St.) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Five Ballarat Miners and four Geelong Supercats players scored in double figures. Geelong Supercats' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Ballarat Miners moved-up to second place in League. Loser Geelong Supercats dropped to the fifth position with one game lost. Ballarat Miners will face Bandits (#4) in Albury in the next round. Geelong Supercats will play on the road against Chargers in Hobart and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
