Regular Season Round 29: Papagou - Ethnikos 68-75

Very expected game in Athens where 12th ranked Papagou (11-18) was defeated by seventh ranked Ethnikos (16-13) 75-68 on Saturday. Papagou was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Estonian point guard Rait-Riivo Laane (179-93) stepped up and scored 13 points and 9 assists for the winners and center Kostas Macheras (205-85) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Five Ethnikos players scored in double figures. Center Petros Melissaratos (205-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Konstantinos Zorzos (188-96) scored 18 points. Papagou's coach Costas Sorotos let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Ethnikos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Kastoria. Newly promoted Papagou keeps the twelfth position with 18 games lost. Ethnikos will face higher ranked Apollon Patras (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Papagou will play against Doxa Lefkadas (#8) and hope to win that game.
