Regular Season Round 8: Kilsyth C. - Dandenong R. 89-75

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when second-ranked Dandenong Rangers (3-3) were defeated on the road by third ranked Kilsyth Cobras (4-1) 89-75 on Saturday. Kilsyth Cobras shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kilsyth Cobras made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sam Daly (193-95, college: Chaminade) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and American Isaac Turner (191-92, college: St.Vincent) who added 22 points during the contest. Center Liam Gibcus (206-90, college: Alaska-Anch.) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Rhys Vague (204-96) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Dandenong Rangers' coach tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kilsyth Cobras moved-up to second place in League. Loser Dandenong Rangers dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Kilsyth Cobras will face Mount Gambier Pioneers (#6) in Mt Gambier in the next round. Dandenong Rangers will play on the road against the league's leader Spectres in East Burwood and hope to win that game.
