Regular Season Round 35: Niigata Albirex - San-en 75-55

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th placed San-en NeoPhoenix's (23-34) road loss to third ranked Niigata Albirex (26-31) 55-75 on Saturday. Niigata Albirex shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) answered with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Atsuya Ota (206-84) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for San-en NeoPhoenix. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Niigata Albirex. They maintain third place with 26-31 record having twenty points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Hokkaido L. San-en NeoPhoenix lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the third position with 34 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face Toyama Grouses (#5) at home in the next round. San-en NeoPhoenix will play against Yokohama BC and hope to win that game.
