Rather predictable result in Boulogne-sur-Mer where eleventh ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (16-17) beat 13th ranked Orchesien BC (13-19) 81-74 on Saturday. SO Maritime Boulogne made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). His fellow American import forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four SO Maritime Boulogne players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Robert Turner (190-93, college: Texas Tech) who recorded 20 points and 6 assists and swingman Fabien Ateba (192-91) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively. SO Maritime Boulogne moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Orchesien BC keeps the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. SO Maritime Boulogne will face bottom-ranked CFBB (#18) in Paris in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Orchesien BC will play at home against Brissac Anjou (#6) and hope to win that game.
