Second Stage Round 13: Heffingen - BC Mess 98-68

Very important is a road loss of third ranked BC Mess (14-17) against fourth ranked Heffingen (7-24) on Saturday night. Visiting BC Mess was crushed by Heffingen in Heffingen 98-68. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by BC Mess' players. American swingman Jovonni Shuler (195-87, college: Savannah St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Ryan Logan (201-94, college: Stonehill) chipped in 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Shuler is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Heffingen players scored in double figures. Heffingen's coach Alexandre Pires felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Richard Ross (198-92, college: ODU) responded with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 27 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and Patrick Kirpach scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. Newly promoted Heffingen maintains fourth place with 7-24 record. BC Mess at the other side keeps the third position with 17 games lost. They share it with T.Hesperange. Heffingen will play against higher ranked Contern (#3) in Luxembourg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BC Mess will play on the road against the league's leader Arantia in Larochette and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
