Very predictable result when seventh ranked Sluc Nancy (18-12) defeated on the road 15th ranked STB Le Havre (9-21) 75-71 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-17. But STB Le Havre won second period 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded STB Le Havre 45-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. Sluc Nancy looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Dewayne Russell (180-94, college: Grand Canyon) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (201-90, college: Murray St.) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Sluc Nancy's coach Gregor Beugnot used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Stacy Davis (198-94, college: Pepperdine) with 16 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import Ronald Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) scored 16 points. Four STB Le Havre players scored in double figures. Sluc Nancy maintains seventh position with 18-12 record. STB Le Havre lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with 21 games lost. Sluc Nancy will face Poitiers (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. STB Le Havre will play against SPO Rouen and hope to win that game.
