Regular Season Round 30: Gran Canaria - Iberostar Tener. 68-76

There was a minor upset in Las Palmas where 7th ranked Gran Canaria (17-13) was defeated by ninth ranked CB Canarias (16-14) 76-68 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gran Canaria won third quarter 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American Tim Abromaitis (203-89, college: Notre Dame) who scored 18 points. The former international center Fran Vazquez (209-83) chipped in 9 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Pablo Aguilar (202-89) who recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds and Dominican Eulis Baez (201-82, college: W.Illinois) added 8 points and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. CB Canarias moved-up to eighth place, which they share with UCAM Murcia. Loser Gran Canaria dropped to the sixth position with 13 games lost. CB Canarias will face Movil Estudiantes (#11) in Madrid in the next round.
