A very interesting game took place in Andorra. It ended with only three-point home defeat of higher ranked Andorra (17-13) to thirteenth ranked Blusens Monbus (12-18) 96-93 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Andorra. Andorra was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 22-16 charge of Blusens Monbus, which allowed them to win the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Andorra helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Matt Thomas (196-94, college: Iowa St.) notched 30 points and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the effort and Ukrainian center Artem Pustovyi (218-92, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) supported him with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Even 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by international point guard Jaime Fernandez (186-93) did not help to save the game for Andorra. Slovenian Jaka Blazic (196-90) added 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Blusens Monbus moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Gipuzkoa GBC. Andorra at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 13 games lost. Blusens Monbus' next round opponent will be RETAbet BB (#17) in Bilbao where they are favorite.
