We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Nishinomiya S. (10-47) was smashed on the road by sixth ranked Shimane Magic (9-48) 92-72 on Sunday. Shimane Magic outrebounded Nishinomiya S. 37-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Forward Takayuki Kumagai (190-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Josh Scott (208-93, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) answered with 24 points and swingman Naoki Tani (193-88) added 12 points in the effort for Nishinomiya S.Nishinomiya S.'s coach let to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Shimane Magic maintains sixth place with 9-48 record. Nishinomiya S. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with 47 games lost. Shimane Magic will face higher ranked Shiga L-Stars (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nishinomiya S. will play against the league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. and hope to win that game.
