Regular Season Round 35: Niigata Albirex - San-en 84-81

Important game to mention about took place in Niigata. Third ranked Niigata Albirex (26-31) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th placed San-en NeoPhoenix (23-34) 84-81 in the game for the third place. Niigata Albirex made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) orchestrated the victory by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) contributed with 13 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) answered with 24 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) added 22 points and 4 assists in the effort for San-en NeoPhoenix. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Niigata Albirex. They maintain third place with 26-31 record having twenty points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Hokkaido L. San-en NeoPhoenix lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the third position with 34 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face Toyama Grouses (#5) at home in the next round. San-en NeoPhoenix will play against Yokohama BC and hope to win that game.
