Regular Season Round 8: SW Metro P. - Cairns M. 71-73

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated South West Metro Pirates (1-1) in Runcorn on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by Cairns Marlins (2-0) 73-71. It was a key game for the top position in League. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Kuany Kuany (201, college: Chaminade) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds and forward Christian Jurlina (196, college: Whitworth, agency: MKP Management) who added 21 points during the contest. Forward Jarred Bairstow (201-92, college: Cent.Oklahoma) responded with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Jake Allen (193, college: Avila) scored 14 points. Four South West Metro Pirates players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Cairns Marlins maintains first position in League with 2-0 record. South West Metro Pirates at the other side dropped to the seventh place with one game lost. Cairns Marlins are looking forward to face Mackay Meteors (#4) at home in the next round. South West Metro Pirates will play against Toowoomba Mountaineers and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
