Regular Season Round 30: Gipuzkoa GBC - Burgos 63-71

There was a small surprise in San Sebastian where fourteenth ranked Burgos (11-19) defeated 12th ranked Gipuzkoa (12-18) 71-63 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 18-9. But Gipuzkoa won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American guard John Jenkins (193-91, college: Vanderbilt, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 17 points. American-Georgian point guard Corey Fisher (186-88, college: Villanova) chipped in 14 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian-American forward Michael Fakuade (201-89, college: Ill.-Springfield) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Jordan Swing (198-90, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) added 11 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Burgos maintains fourteenth position with 11-19 record. Gipuzkoa at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the twelfth place with 18 games lost. Burgos will face Zaragoza (#16) at home in the next round.
