Regular Season Round 16: Mazatlan - Guaymas 88-86

There was a change at the CIBACOPA leadership position after last games. Round 16 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Ostioneros de Guaymas (10-5). They were edged by ninth ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (4-12) 88-86 on Wednesday night. Lobos UAD Mazatlan made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Michael Lizarraga (200-89, college: CS Northridge) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Carl Hall (202-89, college: Wichita St.) who added 14 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American swingman Brent Jackson (193-94, college: Columbus St., agency: Paris Global Sports) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and guard Daniel Giron (193-89) scored 17 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Lobos UAD Mazatlan maintains ninth position with 4-12 record. Ostioneros de Guaymas at the other side dropped to the second place with five games lost. They share the position with Tijuana. They were replaced at the leadership position by Hermosillo. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play next round against league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon on the road.
