Regular Season Round 12: Corinthians - Brasilia 81-73

Date: May 3, 2018
Liga Ouro top team - Corinthians (12-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixth ranked Brasilia (7-7) in Sao Paulo 81-73. Corinthians made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Brasilia turnovers. Brasilia was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by guard Guilherme Schneider (193-86) who scored that evening 25 points and 6 assists and the former international point guard Humberto Gomes (195-95) supported him with 9 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Wesley Russell (193-93, college: Ohio Christian) did not help to save the game for Brasilia. Center Daniel Castellar (203-83) added 17 points. Four Brasilia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Corinthians have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-2 record. Brasilia at the other side keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Corinthians will play against league's second-placed Sao Jose at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Brasilia will play against the league's second-placed Sao Jose (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
