Regular Season Round 28: Bnei Hertzeliya - Maccabi Rishon 69-100

Date: May 3, 2018
11th ranked Bnei Hasharon (10-18) was outscored at home by ninth ranked Maccabi Rishon (11-17) with the biggest margin this round 100-69 on Thursday night. The game without a history. Maccabi Rishon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Bnei Hasharon's 30. They outrebounded Bnei Hasharon 38-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Maccabi Rishon looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Bnei Hasharon's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Drew Crawford (196-90, college: Northwestern) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) who added 20 points and 6 assists during the contest. Four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international swingman Shawn Dawson (198-93) responded with 16 points and American guard Brandon Triche (193-91, college: Syracuse) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Maccabi Rishon moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ironi Nes-Ziona. Loser Bnei Hasharon dropped to the tenth position with 18 games lost. Maccabi Rishon will face bottom-ranked Maccabi Haifa (#12) at home in the next round. Bnei Hasharon will play against Ironi Nes-Ziona in Nes Ziyona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
