Date: May 5, 2018
Undefeated leader Panathinaikos delivered the twenty fourth consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 13th ranked Koroivos (7-17) 86-49. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Koroivos to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Koroivos 38-23 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Panathinaikos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of naturalized American center Zach Auguste (208-93, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 8 rebounds and international Konstantinos Mitoglou (208-96, college: Wake Forest) who added 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Jahii Carson (178-92, college: Arizona St.) with 15 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Quenton DeCosey (196-93, college: Temple) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panathinaikos (24-0) have an impressive 24-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 24 victories in a row. Loser Koroivos dropped to the twelfth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Panionios. Panathinaikos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens AEK.
