Very important is a road loss of second ranked Algeciras (20-8) against sixth ranked Almeria (18-9) on Saturday night. Visiting Algeciras was defeated by Almeria in a tough game in Almeria 66-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Algeciras. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-11. But Algeciras won second period 14-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Almeria made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Algeciras outrebounded Almeria 47-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. Guard Jesus Castro (191-83) nailed 27 points for the winning side and forward Cristian Ramon (197-92) accounted for 19 points. Almeria's coach Raul Fernandez used entire bench in such tough game. Center Jose-Maria Balmon (204-81) came up with 22 points and 8 rebounds and American Michael Murray (196-91, college: Coppin St.) added 14 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Algeciras in the defeat. Almeria have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place in Group D-Clasif. Algeciras at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the second position with eight games lost. They share it with Marbella.
