Date: May 5, 2018
Rather predictable result in McKinnon where fourth ranked Sharks (5-2) outscored 8th ranked Cougars (2-6) 82-58 on Saturday. Sharks forced 21 Cougars turnovers. Strangely Cougars outrebounded Sharks 42-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was swingman Jazmin Shelley (174-0) who scored 26 points, 7 assists and 6 steals. American guard Peyton Little (180-93, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Ariel Thomas (168, college: Oregon) who recorded 19 points and 9 rebounds and center Carly Chatfield (185-93) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Cougars' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Sharks maintains fourth place in League with 5-2 record. Loser Cougars keep the eighth position with six games lost. Sharks will face higher ranked Hawks (#3) in Heathmont in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cougars will play on the road against the league's second-placed Falcons (#2) in Mount Waverley and hope to win that game.
