Regular Season Round 9: SD Spartans - Gold Coast R. 79-54

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Rollers (0-2) were rolled over on the road by leader Brisbane Spartans (1-0) 79-54 on Saturday. Strangely Rollers outrebounded Brisbane Spartans 49-34 including a 24-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American swingman Aja Parham (183-84, college: Boston Coll.) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Swingman Rebecca Haynes (188-84, college: Jacksonville St.) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was New Zealand forward Alicia Carline (190-93, college: Portland St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points, 17 rebounds and 6 blocks and Carliegh Patrick added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Rollers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Brisbane Spartans left bottom position moving up to sixth place in League. Loser Rollers still closes the standings with two games lost. Brisbane Spartans will face Logan Thunder (#10) in Loganholme in the next round. Rollers will play at home against the league's leader Sunshine CP (#1) and hope to get finally their first victory.
