Regular Season Round 9: Canberra C. II - Bendigo LB 63-89

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-best Nationals' (4-2) home loss to leader Lady Braves (5-0) 63-89 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Lady Braves. Nationals was better in fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lady Braves looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Kelly Wilson (170-84) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. Power forward Nadeen Payne (188-93, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. Five Lady Braves players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Rosemary Schweizer who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and forward Keely Froling (188-96, college: SMU) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lady Braves maintains first place in League with 5-0 record. Loser Nationals dropped to the third position with two games lost. Lady Braves will face Tigers (#4) in Melbourne in the next round. Nationals will play at home against the league's leader Lady Cobras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
