Date: May 5, 2018
Everything went according to plan in Mandurah where ninth ranked Eagles (5-6) outleveled 12th ranked Magic (2-7) 96-62 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was swingman Drew Williamson (196-83, college: Metro St.) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists. American power forward Jonathan Morse (203-91, college: Metro St.) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Morse is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Shaun Stewart (180-94, college: Limestone) who recorded 15 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Chudier Pal (205-91, college: NC-Asheville) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Eagles moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Magic keeps the twelfth position with seven games lost. Eagles will face higher ranked Stirling S. (#7) in Perth in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Magic will play on the road against Giants (#14) in Kalgoorlie and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
