Very important is a home loss of first ranked Spectres (5-1) against fourth ranked Dandenong Rangers (4-3) on Saturday night. Host Spectres were defeated by Dandenong Rangers in a tough game in East Burwood 76-80. Spectres were ahead by 8 points after three quarters before a 24-12 charge of Dandenong Rangers, which allowed them to win the game. Point guard Lucas Barker (183-93, college: Indianapolis) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Rhys Vague (204-96) accounted for 12 points and 11 rebounds. American center Dain Swetalla (206-86, college: Augustana, IL) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and Sam McDonald (-84) added 13 points and 9 assists respectively for Spectres in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Spectres' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Dandenong Rangers maintains fourth place in League with 4-3 record. Spectres at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. Dandenong Rangers' next round opponent will be NW Tasmania Thunder (#6) in Ulverstone. Spectres will play on the road against Mount Gambier Pioneers (#4) in Mt Gambier and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
