Regular Season Round 9: NGC Seahawks - Brisbane C. 52-63

Not a big story in a game in Runaway Bay where 7th ranked Seahawks (1-2) were defeated by leader Capitals (2-0) 63-52 on Saturday. Capitals made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Seahawks turnovers. Strangely Seahawks outrebounded Capitals 53-35 including 20 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Amy Lewis (175-86, college: Troy) who scored 9 points and 8 assists. Emma Read chipped in 7 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Casey Samuels (182-94) who recorded 17 points and American center Leeza Burdgess (194-90, college: La Salle) added 10 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Seahawks' coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Capitals maintains second place in League with 2-0 record having 3 victories less than leader Bendigo LB. Newly promoted Seahawks dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Capitals will face Force (#5) in Booval in the next round. Seahawks will play at home against the league's leader Sunshine CP and hope to win that game.
