Bottom-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time defending champion won against ninth-ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan 99-90. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American players dominated also this game. Forward Nick Harney (203-92, college: Fairmont St.) scored 23 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and swingman J.R. Giddens (196-85, college: N.Mexico) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon's coach Ronald Guillen allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was guard Isaiah Wilkerson (191-90, college: NJIT) with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Carl Hall (202-89, college: Wichita St.) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion (5-13) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Los Mochis. Lobos UAD Mazatlan at the other side dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against higher ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will play against the league's second-placed Tijuana Zonkeys (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
