Regular Season Round 9: Hornsby S. - Hills H. 83-108
Date: May 5, 2018
There was no surprise in Hornsby where 8th ranked Spiders (3-6) were crushed by second ranked Hills Hornets (8-1) 108-83 on Saturday. Hills Hornets dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Spiders' 50. They outrebounded Spiders 45-32 including a 39-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hills Hornets looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Spiders were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Adrian Cabrera who had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Naturalized Greek swingman Emilis Duselis (192) chipped in 17 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). At the other side the best for losing team was Darcy Emery who recorded 18 points and 4 assists and American point guard Lincoln Wright (178, college: Fitchburg St.) added 17 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hills Hornets keep a position of League leader. Loser Spiders keep the eighth place with six games lost. Hills Hornets will face Crusaders (#7) in Terrigal in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Spiders will play on the road against Norths Soul Sports Bears in Crows Nest and hope to win that game.
