Regular Season Round 37: Chiba Jets - Ryukyu GK 80-76

There was a minor upset when leader Ryukyu GK (42-18) was defeated on the road by first ranked Chiba Jets (46-14) 80-76 on Saturday. Chiba Jets dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Ryukyu GK's 22. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) chipped in 13 points and 10 assists. At the losing side American forward Hassan Martin (201-95, college: Rhode Island) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) scored 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Chiba Jets and four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. Chiba Jets maintains first place with 46-14 record which they share with defeated Ryukyu GK. Ryukyu GK lost fifth consecutive game. They still keep top position with 18 games lost.
