Seventh-ranked Kangoeroes (13-19) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Okapi Aalstar (21-12) in Willebroek on Saturday. The visitors from Aalstar managed to secure only two-point victory 91-89. However their fans expected easier game. Okapi Aalstar made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. American guard Vernon Taylor (192-87, college: Troy) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points. The former international swingman Olivier Troisfontaines (196-89) contributed with 22 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners. Troisfontaines is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Okapi Aalstar's coach Jean-Marc Jaumin used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Kenyon McNeaill (185-91, college: Louisiana Tech) replied with 24 points and 8 assists and his fellow American import forward Kwan Cheatham-Jr (208-95, college: Akron) added 21 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Kangoeroes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Okapi Aalstar have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 21-12 record. Kangoeroes at the other side keep the seventh place with 19 games lost. Okapi Aalstar are looking forward to face league's leader Oostende on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Kangoeroes will play against the league's second-placed Antwerp Giants (#2) and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
