Regular Season Round 31: Burgos - Zaragoza 96-88

Date: May 6, 2018
No shocking result in a game when fourteenth ranked Burgos (12-19) beat at home 16th ranked Zaragoza (9-22) 96-88 on Sunday. Zaragoza trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 23 after three quarters before a 36-21 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 88-96 at the end of the game. Burgos made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Zaragoza was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for international forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Mississippi) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Deividas Gailius (200-88) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Five Burgos players scored in double figures. American guard Gary Neal (193-84, college: Towson) answered with 16 points and Canadian-Jamaican point guard Dylan Ennis (187-91, college: Oregon, agency: BeoBasket) added 17 points in the effort for Zaragoza. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Burgos moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Gipuzkoa GBC. Loser Zaragoza keeps the sixteenth position with 22 games lost. Burgos will face higher ranked Gran Canaria (#5) in Las Palmas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zaragoza will play on the road against Unicaja Malaga (#6) and hope to win that game.
