Regular Season Round 37: Toyota Alvark - Kyoto Hannar. 106-68

There was a minor upset in Tokyo where much higher ranked Kyoto Hannar. (34-26) was outplayed by second ranked Toyota Alvark (44-16) 106-68 on Sunday. Toyota Alvark dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Kyoto Hannar.'s 22. They outrebounded Kyoto Hannar. 39-20 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Toyota Alvark shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Kyoto Hannar.'s players. Swingman Zack Baranski (193-92) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark's coach Luka Pavicevic felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 23 points and Kevin Hareyama (191-93) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Toyota Alvark have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 44-16 record having four points less than leader Ryukyu GK which they share with defeated Kyoto Hannar. Kyoto Hannar. lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the second position with 26 games lost.
