The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Kilsyth Cobras as it allowed them to take a leadership position in League. Kilsyth Cobras defeated 6th ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers at home 84-73. The game was mostly controlled by Kilsyth Cobras. Mount Gambier Pioneers managed to win second period 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kilsyth Cobras made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Kilsyth Cobras outrebounded Mount Gambier Pioneers 43-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Sam Daly (193-95, college: Chaminade) who scored 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Chris Patton (208-91, college: Cal-Riverside) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Kilsyth Cobras players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Tim Coenraad (201-85, college: Nova SE) who recorded 30 points and 8 rebounds and forward Luke Jamieson (200-94) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Mount Gambier Pioneers at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Mount Gambier Pioneers will play next round against strong Spectres trying to get back on the winning streak. Kilsyth Cobras will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Canberra Gunners on the road.
