There was a small surprise in Melbourne where fourth ranked Tigers (3-3) smashed 4th placed Sabres (4-4) 90-68 on Sunday. Tigers made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Sabres turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tigers made 12 blocks. Sabres were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Rebecca Cole (178-92) who scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized British forward Louella Tomlinson (193-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Rachel Jarry (185-91) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and guard Jasmine Simmons (163-99, college: Rock Valley JC) added 16 points respectively. Tigers maintains fourth place in League with 3-3 record. Loser Sabres dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Tigers will face league's leader Lady Braves in Bendigo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sabres will play on the road against Ballarat Rush (#5) in Wendouree and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
