No shocking result in a game in Cotton Tree where leader Sunshine CP (3-0) edged bottom-ranked Gladstone Port City Power (0-2) 109-108 on Sunday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Sunshine CP outrebounded Gladstone Port City Power 57-39 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sunshine CP made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American Roy Booker (191-84, college: SE Missouri St.) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 6 rebounds and 14 assists. Guard Jamaal Robateau (196, college: Gardner-Webb) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Casey Walker (196-92, college: Delaware St.) who recorded 30 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Taylor Young (193-90, college: Warner Pacific) added 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Sunshine CP moved-up to second place in League. Loser Gladstone Port City Power still closes the standings with two games lost. Sunshine CP will face Rollers (#4) in Gold Coast in the next round. Gladstone Port City Power will play at home against Toowoomba Mountaineers (#14) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
