Regular Season Round 25: Panionios - PAOK 67-81

Very predictable result when fourth ranked PAOK (16-9) won against 12th ranked Panionios (7-18) in Athens 81-67. It looked good early as Panionios took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then PAOK took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 14 points. Guard Thodoris Zaras (197-88) stepped up and scored 16 points for the winners and international power forward Vangelis Margaritis (203-82) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots). At the losing side American Markeith Cummings (198-88, college: Kennesaw St.) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import point guard Tyrone Brazelton (184-86, college: W.Kentucky) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. PAOK maintains fourth place with 16-9 record. Panionios lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Koroivos. PAOK will play against G.Larissa-Faros (#11) in Keratsiniou in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panionios will play on the road against Cretan Kings in Rethymno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
