No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Meteorettes (2-2) crushed bottom-ranked Mountaineers (0-4) in Mackay 105-49 on Friday. Meteorettes made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game, while Mountaineers only scored four points from the stripe. Meteorettes forced 21 Mountaineers turnovers and outrebounded them 59-28 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Meteorettes looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Ruvanna Campbell (189-93, college: Ill.-Chicago) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import forward Mia Loyd (180-94, college: N.Dakota) contributed with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Meteorettes players scored in double figures. Meteorettes' coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Malena Washington (168, college: Arizona) replied with 25 points and 5 rebounds and T Valach added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Mountaineers. Meteorettes maintains ninth position in League with 2-2 record. Loser Mountaineers still closes the standings with four games lost. Meteorettes will face Power (#10) in Gladstone in the next round. Mountaineers will play on the road against the league's leader Pirates (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
