Regular Season Round 10: Cairns M. - Rockhampton 90-95

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Rockhampton Rockets (2-1) beat on the road 3rd ranked Cairns Marlins (3-2) 95-90 on Friday. It was a very good performance for American swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-94, college: Xavier) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import guard Ray Willis (198-89, college: N.C.Central, agency: HMS) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Anthony Fisher (187-94) replied with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and guard Kuany Kuany (201, college: Chaminade) added 22 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cairns Marlins. Four Rockhampton Rockets and five Cairns Marlins players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Rockhampton Rockets went down to seventh position (League) due to points difference. Loser Cairns Marlins dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. Rockhampton Rockets will face league's leader Mackay Meteors at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cairns Marlins will play against NGC Seahawks (#15) and hope to win that game.
