Regular Season Round 25: Panathinaikos - AEK 115-85
Date: May 11, 2018
The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#1) and AEK (#5). Panathinaikos (25-0) crushed visiting AEK (14-11) by 30 points 115-85. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 63.9 percent from the field. Panathinaikos outrebounded AEK 34-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Panathinaikos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-94) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 assists. American-Belgian guard Matt Lojeski (198-85, college: Hawaii, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard Kevin Punter (188-93, college: Tennessee) answered with 14 points and international Dusan Sakota (210-86, agency: BeoBasket) added 15 points in the effort for AEK. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panathinaikos have an impressive series of twenty five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 25-0 record. AEK at the other side keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Lavrio and Kymis. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face Lavrio (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. AEK will play against Kymis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
