Regular Season Round 10: Melbourne T. - Bendigo B. 84-74

There was an upset when top-ranked Bendigo Braves (5-2) lost to sixth ranked Tigers (4-3) in Melbourne 74-84 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Tigers. Bendigo Braves was better in fourth quarter 25-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Bendigo Braves 47-33 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Bendigo Braves were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for guard Tom Wilson (195-97, college: SMU) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Dexter Kernich-Drew (198-91, college: Washington St.) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. American guard Jeremy Kendle (186-88, college: Bellarmine) replied with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and forward Chris Hogan (202-83) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Bendigo Braves. Tigers moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Bendigo Braves dropped to the second position with two games lost. Tigers will face Frankston Blues (#8) in Seaford in the next round. Bendigo Braves will play on the road against Dandenong Rangers (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
