Very expected game when 8th ranked Lions (2-6) lost to second ranked Sabres (7-1) in Gawler 63-72 on Saturday. It was a very good performance for forward Chelsea Brook (188-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Kayla Mathews contributed with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Shawnte Goff (173-94, college: UTRGV) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Jazmen Boone (173, college: William & Mary) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Lions. Sabres maintains second position in League with 7-1 record having just three point less than leader Bendigo LB. Loser Lions keep the eighth place with six games lost. Sabres will face Panthers (#10) in Adelaide in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lions will play at home against the league's leader Rockets and hope to win that game.
