Regular Season Round 10: Hobart C. - Frankston B. 85-72

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Frankston Blues' (0-9) road loss to seventh ranked Hobart Chargers (3-4) 72-85 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Hobart Chargers outrebounded Frankston Blues 49-34 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Quite impressive performance for Sharna Thompson who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. American swingman Kathleen Scheer (187-89, college: Duke) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Hobart Chargers' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Stacey Barr (173-92, college: Idaho) replied with 28 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Samantha Richards (167-83) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Frankston Blues. Hobart Chargers moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Frankston Blues still closes the standings with nine games lost. Hobart Chargers will face league's second-placed Spectres in East Burwood in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Frankston Blues will play at home against Tigers (#6) and hope to get finally their first victory.
