Regular Season Round 10: Perth R. - SW Slammers 120-95

Very expected game when 12th ranked Slammers (3-8) were smashed by second ranked Redbacks (9-3) in Northbridge 120-95 on Saturday. Redbacks made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Slammers' players. It was a very good performance for American forward Maurice Barrow (196-92, college: Fairfield) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Benjamin Smith (192-89) contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Michael Lay (179-84, college: Concordia, OR) replied with 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (196-92, college: Vermont) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Slammers. Five Redbacks and four Slammers players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Redbacks maintains second position in League with 9-3 record having just thirteen point less than leader Mackay M. Loser Slammers keep the twelfth place with eight games lost. Redbacks will face Flames (#6) in Rockingham in the next round. Slammers will play on the road against Stirling S. (#5) in Perth and hope to win that game.
