Second Stage Round 9: Tokyo HT - Tokyo Cinq R. 78-69

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tokyo: Tokyo HT (#1) and Tokyo Cinq R. (#6). Tokyo HT (16-2) won against visiting Tokyo Cinq R. (1-17) 78-69. Tokyo HT dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Cinq R.'s 28. They outrebounded Tokyo Cinq R. 47-29 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tokyo HT looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Forward Brennan McElroy (201-91, college: Indianapolis) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Tokyo HT players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Drew Martin (203-94, college: Concordia, OR, agency: Court Side) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) added 23 points respectively. Tokyo HT have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-2 record. Tokyo Cinq R. lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 17 lost games. Tokyo HT are looking forward to face Saitama Broncos (#5) on the road in the next round. Tokyo Cinq R.'s supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Tokyo Excel..
