There was an upset when bottom-ranked Gladstone Port City Power (0-3) was outscored at home by fifteenth ranked Toowoomba Mountaineers (1-3) 120-90 on Saturday. Toowoomba Mountaineers shot 61.4 percent from the field. They also forced 21 Gladstone Port City Power turnovers. Gladstone Port City Power was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Damon Bozeman (190, college: Saginaw Valley) who helped to win the game recording 49 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. The other American import power forward Harold Ridgeway (203, college: Midland) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American guard Taylor Young (193-90, college: Warner Pacific) replied with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Matt Hancock (193-93, college: W.Alabama) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Gladstone Port City Power. Five Toowoomba Mountaineers and four Gladstone Port City Power players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toowoomba Mountaineers left bottom position moving up to twelfth place in League. Loser Gladstone Port City Power still closes the standings with three games lost. Toowoomba Mountaineers will face higher ranked South West Metro Pirates (#6) in Runcorn in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gladstone Port City Power will play at home against the league's leader Mackay Meteors (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
