Very expected game when bottom-ranked Boomers (0-9) lost to seventh ranked Thunder (3-5) in Bulleen 92-97 on Sunday. Thunder forced 23 Boomers turnovers. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for forward Erin Bollmann (180-94, college: SE Missouri St.) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds. Center Kailyn Williams (193-94, college: Beth.-Cookman) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Thunder's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Power forward Sarah Boothe (195-90, college: Stanford) replied with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 18 rebounds and 6 assists and center Jasmine Hines (192-93, college: Michigan St.) added 23 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) in the effort for Boomers. Five Thunder and four Boomers players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Thunder maintains seventh position in League with 3-5 record. Loser Boomers still closes the standings with nine games lost. Thunder will face Wildcats (#9) in Eltham in the next round. Boomers will play on the road against Cougars in McKinnon and hope to get finally their first victory.
